Sweden, yarn walls, and choosing well

We Love Wool Weekly

Hey Reader

I’ve just come back from Sweden, and it was honestly awesome.

Cold air, beautiful light, and that quiet kind of space that makes you breathe a little deeper. It was one of those trips that stays with you for a while after you’re home.

Of course, I took knitting with me. Deciding what projects to pack might have taken longer than packing clothes.

And somewhere between travelling and the workshops I was there for, I visited three amazing yarn shops too.

✍️ New on the blog: How to Choose Yarn Without Feeling Overwhelmed

If you’ve ever stood in front of a wall of yarn and felt your mind go completely blank, you are not alone.

There are so many colours. So many fibres. So many words on the labels.

It can quietly turn into,
“Maybe I’m not ready for this.”

This week, I wrote about breaking it down simply.

Weight.
Fibre.
How does it feel in your hands?

That’s it.

Choosing yarn isn’t a test. It’s part of the making.
And you cannot ruin yourself as a maker by picking the “wrong” one.

At worst, you learn something.
At best, you discover a new favourite.

You can read it here.

💬 In the Club

We’ve hit 500 members now, which feels huge. Thank you for being part of what makes this space feel so warm and easy to be in.

Top of the leaderboard this week:

🥇 Vanda Santos
🥈 Donna McMahon
🥉 Rechelle Rendall 🔥

And we’ve still been getting such lovely project shares. I really do love how encouraging everyone is with each other. It makes the whole club feel like a proper little corner of the internet to come back to.o.

💌 Something worth reading

Actually, I’d love to hear from you this week.

Is there a book, blog, or maker you turn to when you want to understand yarn better?

Hit reply and share it. I’d love to build a little community reading list together.

🧶 A quiet reminder

The pre-order for the Saltburn Shawl is still open.

It’s the first pattern in my MA series of twelve designs, and it holds a lot of meaning for me.

If you’d like to be part of the beginning of that journey, you can find it on Kit here:

I hope wherever you are this weekend, you get a few quiet minutes with your yarn. Even a few stitches count.
