it looks like a mess right up to the end

Lace is weird.

On the needles, it looks like nothing. A scrunched-up, holey mess. You just keep going and hope.

Then you block it, the holes open up, and there it is. Gets me every time.

That's Larkspur. I painted it first (wild flowers), then figured out how to knit it. Sage is bleeding into deep purple. Soft and hazy, kidsilk haze held with alpaca. The kind you wrap up in and don't take off.

It's the newest of my twelve. Three done so far.
